Yay, the Rays won the opener against the O’s.  Just some quick thoughts tonight.

BJ really likes Berken’s pitching.  He was a double away from the cycle.  Yep, BJ.  Can you imagine what this team could do if he were to get his bat going?  Besides he’s super cute in his post game interviews.

David Price didn’t really have it, but he still put the team in the position to win.  Unlike Mr. Choate who brought his team closer to losing.  Not good.

I’m sorry but I’m really tired of Kevin Kennedy.  I’m sure he’s a nice man, but can I have Brian Anderson back please.  I really like Todd Kalas in the booth, but he’s also a really good rover reporter.  Brian is fun.  Todd just blends in with the game, which is spot on for some people.  Kevin actually takes me out of watching the game because he annoys me.  Could just be me I guess.

Looks like Joe Maddon is going to need more ties.  That’s a joke grenade for all you FSN viewers.

C’mon Jefferson Niemann keep it going.  Go Rays!

Game 107 – Rays vs. Blue Jays

Percy and his clown feet are winning me back one step at a time.

The Rays won again today 3-2.  Percy got the save, in a one run game.  He didn’t walk anybody, he didn’t load the bases, he didn’t give up a run!  He was down right boring, but I’m okay with that.  I thought Maddon was on crack to bring him in but…he’s the closer until he proves otherwise right.  It’s a big job, but he’s got the feet for it.  Check those suckers out.  You know what they say about guys with big feet.  Oh, god now I’ve got this awful visual.  Make it stop!  Tequila stat!

The Rays are in first place.  So stellar, and only one of their starting players has a batting average over .300.  They are like a team.  Everybody chips in.  In my mind they all like each other too.  I don’t think we really have any bro-mances like other teams though.  We need to work on that.  In a perfect world it would be Longo and Barty.  Girls gotta have dreams.

So the trade deadline looms, and the Rays come up in a lot of discussions.  I know some people love to try and figure it all out.  I guess I just figure it’s out of my hands and I’ll deal with it when it happens.  That being said I can’t imagine how Tigers fans feel today.  Pudge, the face of the franchise got traded to the evil empire!  I know it’s a business, but us girls get attached to these boys, and what did the Tigers get in return?  Kyle Farnsworth, or Farnsworthless as the Yankees Chick calls him.  He definitely has an arm on him, but is that a fair trade?  However he is a great guy to have on your team in case of a brawl.  Yeah, he will f*ck your shit up.  Rays please take note.  No rushing of the mound when Farny is pitching.  Especially on Saturday when LL Cool J is there, Mama said knock you out!

Off day tomorrow, but the boys are coming home.  I’ll leave you with some of the searches that have brought people to my blog lately.  Go Rays!!

Game 39 – Yankees vs. Rays

Mercy Percy, you owe Edwin some surf n turf!

Edwin, Mr. Jackson if you’re nasty, pitched seven awesome shut out innings once again.  

Chien-Ming Wang pitched pretty well himself, giving up only one run through seven.

The Rays scored in the fourth when Pena doubled.  Clifford moved him over, and then Hinske knocked him in.  Stellar.

The Yankees threatened in the 6th when Hinske turned a Jeter single into a triple.  He dove and missed a ball that he should have let drop.  It wasn’t even close by the way.  Jackson did a great job to pitch out that inning and the 7th when once again he had a runner on third.

The whole game was kind of tense, because although the Rays were winning, one run wasn’t going to cut it.

Is it just me or does it seem like Carl Crawford doesn’t listen to his teammates when they are calling fly balls??  A coach needs to address this situation or someone is going to get hurt, and then this blogger won’t be a happy camper.

Wheeler shut them down in the eighth, and even avoided his urge for the dramatic.

The Rays had two men on in the 8th, but Clifford hit into a double play.  Not good.

Percy left a ball up with one out in the ninth and Matsui showed him why that is not recommended.  Tie ball game.

The Rays couldn’t get anything going in the ninth, mostly I think because they knew I wanted to go to bed.

Howell made quick work of them in the 10th.

Top of the tenth, CC singles against Rivera!  Rock on, speed on the basepaths.  Except he doesn’t run, at all, anywhere????  And to make matters worse Staats and Magrane are giving us sick stats on why he should be running against Mariano.  BJ, Pena and Longo go down in order.  Even less sleep.

Howell again proves his worth in the 11th, aided by a nice double play.

Bottom 11th, Rivera still pitching.  Clifford leads off with a single!  He is totally forgiven for the whole double play thing.  Gomes comes in to run for him, and Gomes being Gomes steals second, with a terrible jump.  He should have been out by a mile, but Molina biffs the throw and Jonny is safe!  Gabe Gross is up.  Gotta admit I’m comin around to him especially since he singled!  And Jonny scored!  The winning run!  The Rays win!  New York 1 – Tampa 2.

They handed Mariano Rivera his first earned run and lost save attempt.  They moved into first place.  Todd Kalas said they have the best record in the American League, and he’s a handsome fella so I believe him. 

You know what’s awesome.  The Marlins have the same record!  What kind of twisted world are we living in?  I need to buy a lottery ticket!

All this winning.  Jonny Gomes said it best “Tell ya what, it doesn’t suck!”  Go Rays!!

Game 36 – Angels vs. Rays

Not a lot to say tonight.  I haven’t quite adjusted to all this winning.  It’s definitely something I could get used to though.  Angels 0 – Rays 2.

Aki got a lead-off hit today, and I know why.  He got his haircut.  I’m sure you’ve all heard the story about Boof Bonser and his hair.  Well Aki’s story is the opposite.  His long hair was the source of his suckiness.

Longo gets a bases loaded RBI.  Love him.

Did anyone else see the gross guy (not Gabe Gross) licking his girlfriends ear while Todd Kalas was interviewing someone?  So disgusting but you couldn’t help stare at them!

Kazmir seemed to get better as the game went on.  Still used a lot of pitches, but six innings of shut out ball is pretty acceptable!

Bartlett hit a nice double in the 7th.  Love him.  Not sure if he should have went home on the ground ball by Aki?  Might have just been a good play by Rodriguez.

I’ve decided that Wheeler has a flair for the dramatic.  He likes to get himself into nail biting situations so he can come out looking awesome.

Pena made a great diving stop to save the shutout.

The Rays played smart ball in the 8th and it paid off.  Crawford started them off with a base hit.  BJ gets a sac bunt to move him over.  Ballsy move but Crawford steals third safely, and Pena hits a sac fly to bring him in.

Percy shut them down.

Is it too much to ask for a sweep?  Go Rays!!

Game 18 – White Sox vs. Rays

Andy Sonn’n'Shine shuts out the Sox!  Wow say that six times fast!  He’s not a sonn anymore, he’s a star!  Ok, I apologize.  Buzzed blogger.  Seriously though what a brilliant performance.  No pun intended.

The Rays really showed their potential tonight and it was definitely welcome after last nights suck fest.   It would also be welcome if they could finish all their games in two hours.  Another reason to love Sonny.

They came alive in the bottom of the second stringing together base hits and scoring three runs.  Longo was the only Ray who didn’t get a hit tonight.  BJ was really hot going 3-4.   

Bartlett must have heard my plea.  He had a much better game in the field and he had an RBI single.  He’s had a bit of a sore arm and will be sitting out tomorrow and resting on the off day to see if that helps.  Todd Kalas told me so.

I think the Rays should be forced to watch base running videos on their off day Monday.  That was the only negative tonight.  Carl got caught between first and second.  BJ got caught rounding third AGAIN.  Gomes managed to get out of his pickle and later score a run. 

Alright Rays, win the series tomorrow and send Nick Swisher and his creepy facial outta here!
