Another Season in the Books.

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The Tampa Bay Rays 2009 season is now in the books, and it is quite a collection of stories.
Beloved main characters were lost.  Rocco Baldelli defected to enemy territory.  Jonny Gomes found success in a different city, and Scott Kazmir headed to LA to try to become a star.
The team’s story got off to a […]

O’ Damn It.

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Close, yet so far away.
I got home late tonight, so I didn’t see the first five innings.  The last four innings were pretty eventful though.
Top of 6th - Shields was cruising along but hit a road block when Longo biffed a throw.  He was able to get two outs, but he also walked two.  Result […]

Willy doesn’t know what all the fuss is about…

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

This scoring runs thing isn’t that hard.  Willy can do it from both sides of the plate.
I’m not the only one that’s been saying the Rays need to get Aybar’s bat in the line-up, and today he showed exactly why.  He’s got a little pop.  Just ask James Shields if he wants him in the […]

Save it…

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

James Shields doesn’t want to hear it.  Save it.  He’s heard all the excuses.  He wants to know what the hell he has to do to get a little love around here.  Pitch seven innings of no-hit ball?  Check.
What else is it going to take?  Surf and turf after the game?  Lap dances?  Sham-Wows?  He only […]

Come On!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

This game made me grouchy right from the get go!  Why the heck wasn’t it in HD?  Come on!
Where is Brian Anderson?  I want Brian Anderson.  Come on!
What is it about AJ Burnett?  The Rays seem to be rendered useless when he’s on the mound.  Is the snarl his source of power? Come on!
Shields had […]

Crunch Time

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

All in all that was not a bad road trip.  It wasn’t pretty, but it could have been much worse.
Saturday I got home right in the middle of the Rays comeback.  That was fine by me because I missed all the bad stuff, and it hurts my heart when David Price doesn’t do well.  However […]

Yo Yo Game

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

What a yo yo game.  It was great to see the Rays back in action, but man were my emotions all over the place.
Everything was going along fine.  Kansas scored in the first but it was early.  Sure enough the Rays scored a couple and all was right with the world, until…
Kaplowee!  Pitcher combustion.  Shields […]

Shields Avoids the Long Ball Epidemic

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Since it was a day game with a rain delay, I did a kind of drive by viewing.  However after the final pitch I let out a girly “Yay!”  That’s what it’s come to in close games this year.  It’s sort of suprising when the Rays find a way to win.
Know who I cheered the most […]

Rocky Mountain High

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

The Rays didn’t seem to have any problems with the altitude.  Everybody was hitting and they easily put a stop to the Rockies hot streak.  If someone could beat the stinkin Red Sox, the Rays might finally gain some ground!
Anyway that was a fun game, in that it seemed like a sure thing.  What do […]

The Winning is Way More Fun.

Friday, May 29th, 2009

I have to be honest though, that gave me a freakin heart attack.  James Shields was great.  He was like a security blanket, making me feel all warm and fuzzy.  Matter of fact I was so comfortable that I had a tantrum when Mr. Maddon came to take him away.  I’m terrified of the bullpen […]
