Can’t They Just Stay in Boston?

Because the Rays are having a good time there.

They started the game with small ball.  Barty doubles, and Carl moves him to third with a sac bunt.  Zobrist puts it in play and Barty scores. 1-0 good guys.

Niemann goes to work and shuts them down.  He’s like a big oak tree.  He’s not flashy, he’s just solid.  I wanna give him a big bear hug.

Jason Bartlett likes John Lackey’s pitching.  He gets on again in the third.  Carl gets a base hit too.  Ben Zobrist walked twice, but actually struck out.  Yeah, try and figure that one out.  It’s alright Longo makes them pay with a two run double.  3-0 Rays.  Pena walks and then BJ strokes one to center.  Welcome back Benjamin Jackson!  6-0 Rays, good times.

In the 4th Reid Brignac doubles.  I think he should play everyday folks.  What’s he going to do stike out against lefties?  I’m sorry, that wasn’t nice.  Navi moves him over and then the unstoppable Bartlett hits a triple sending Lackey to the showers early.  Carl Crawford hits a sac fly off the replacement pitcher and the Rays are up 8-0.

I gotta be honest.  At this point I have faith that the Rays can pull this one out, and I have to get some work done.  I did keep the game on in the background though.  I saw Pat the Bat think he was fast, and I saw the Hermida homerun, and I saw the final outcome.  Rays win!

I hope they have this much fun in Chicago.  Do we get Brian Anderson again?  He increases my viewing pleasure exponentially.  Go Rays!

Game 65 & 66 Rays vs. Angels

So I suck at the West Coast series, I still did something fun today.

When the Rays won the first game with Edwin on the mound I thought for sure they’d win the series.  Either Shields or Kazmir would put up a win.  That’s why they don’t pay me the big bucks I guess.  Shields got hit hard, and Weaver ruined everything by pitching really good.  Then Kazmir pitched really good, but so did Lackey.  I didn’t see the game, but I followed the comments at DRaysBay and they made it sound like the umpire blew, and they left Kazmir in a bit too long hoping he’d get that third out.  Oh, what’s with all the cat pictures over there?

The Rays lost both games.  1-6 and 2-4.  Day off tomorrow and then it’s the battle for the sunshine state.

Anyhoo you knew all that stuff.  Guess what I did on my day off.  I walked around on Tropicana field.  Yep, I took some kids to a free baseball clinic at the Trop.  Chevy Youth Baseball does a great job putting it on.

We get there and they have you walk through an entrance that takes you right out onto center-field.  The kids eyes just lit up.  Ok, mine did too.  I was walking where BJ plays!

The kids had a great time.  Some Rays coaches were there and they had a bunch of different stations that they rotated through.  The got to hit batting practice from homeplate and catch fly balls in center and everything!  The whole time I’m thinking, I know a lot of grown men who would love this! 

Then they had a guest speaker.  Don Zimmer!  He’s so cute, and he really likes to talk.  I think he should adopt me, and let me sit in those cushy black seats behind home plate.  He gave Longo a great compliment comparing him to Brooks Robinson and Greg Nettles.  When he was done motivating the kids he signed autographs for them all.  I guess Rocco was there yesterday.

Anyway it was really cool, and it takes the edge off the Rays losing.  Here are some pictures.
