This wasn’t an easy decision. There were many factors to consider.
Reviewing the contract didn’t help. It’s pretty clear, all work and no pay. There were a few incentives though. Her Rays is the only Rays blog written by a girl (that I know of.) So I guess I’m representing. Plus it pleases my mother and sister.
Next I had to address the lack of defense last season. Was I willing to put in the extra time and effort to defend this silly blog. Just because I don’t use stats that often doesn’t mean I don’t understand them. Could I handle it when someone questioned my dedication to the team. I guess hundreds of blog posts don’t prevent you from being labeled a bandwagon fan.
Then there were the errors. Like the time I emailed a fellow Rays fan because I thought I saw him at a game, and mentioned that it would be cool to meet him. I thought I was being friendly, but evidently it came across as really friendly because his friends were convinced I was trying to get in his pants. The Internet is a crazy place folks. This was completely my fault though since…
When I started this blog two years ago, my plan was to remain as anonymous as possible. I figured more guys would read it, if there was a possibility that I was young, super hot and single. That was foolish and rude. People care about the content. Unless there are hot pics all over, and maybe even then.
So I guess it’s time for my Tejada like press conference. How do you define young? I’m in my mid thirties, and I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t look like Erin Andrews. Next time I get dolled up I’ll post a pic. Not only am I not single but I come with baggage, yep three kids. So when I say I love a certain player, it’s not in a stalker kind of way. I kinda like the guy I married, since he also happens to be my best friend.
So you see I’m kind of busy in real life. That made this a tough decision, but when it came right down to it all I had to do was read the signs. Several things inspired me to make a comeback.
First there was Sarah’s post at Oh it’s Those Girls. She made me realize it’s okay to just be a fan and let your inner silly out. There are great serious Rays blogs that I read daily. Rays Index and DRaysBay for example. Why would I want to do the same thing.
The next sign was a big ‘ole freaking neon sign. ROCCO BALDELLI IS BACK WITH THE RAYS! I know he’s just an assistant and I don’t care one bit. He’s back and I love him.
The kicker though was when I went to watch the Rays this spring.
You see this is a great team. Think about that roster. Now think about the guys in Durham. How could I not be excited about this season. This is a great team. Boys tell your girls, the Rays are back in action tomorrow night. See you there!
Oh and don’t worry we’ll spruce the place up in the coming weeks.

Welcome back. We (at least me) up watching the Bulls missed you.
Hey, welcome back! It will be a nice change, I’m getting bored with the same old Rays coverage I’ve gotten all off-season. I can tell you the vocal group of female Rays supporters is definitely growing, if my twitter stream is any indicator. Maybe we can steer them over here!
Preach it, sister!
I’m glad you’re back. I went to Charlotte Sports Park for the first time this spring and fell in love with Barty and the Rays all over again and thought of you!
There were a couple things this pre-season that tempted me to pack in my blog too. But then the terrorists win. Us super-cool chicas have got to stick together.
Welcome back Jessica! We’re doing a for girls, by girls MLB podcast these days – drop me a line if you want to be a guest in the future – we would love to have you!

Hi, I’m pleased to meet you. I regret that I was not familiar with your blog prior to today. But thanks to Sarah, who gave you a shout-out on Twitter, here I am! And I’m glad, because I like what I see.
I hope you keep writing as often as you can (I totally get the whole life=busy thing). I have great admiration for the Rays (anyone who can beat up on the Yankees and Red Sox is A-OK in my book; plus how can anyone not love Joe Maddon?), and I think they’ll have a fun season, so I’m looking forward to reading what you have to say.
k-bro
Thanks ChrisWise. We’re thinking of making a trip to Durham this summer. If it pans out you’ll have to recommend some hot spots besides the ballpark.
Thanks to you too Chris. Twitter is on my to do list, but definitely send as many Rays fans as you can this way.
As always thanks for your inspiration Sarah. You set the bar pretty high for us super cool chicas.
Caryn, thanks and I’ll check out the podcast. It sounds fun.
Nice to meet you too k-bro. Yep as a Rays fan, I like the Twins organization because they gave us Garza and Barty. You gotta love those guys. Besides you have the superhuman Mauer and JJ Hardy is a very nice addition. Plus I secretly hope for D. Young to succeed, which I think he will.
Welcome back and Hello again. Can’t tell you how excited I am about this season and so glad to have Her Rays still as a part of it. Glad to see your back. Here is to a great year. Go Rays.
Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
