So Rays, you got that out of your system right? I mean if you’re gonna suck, might as well all suck on the same night.
From the beginning this game was extremely painful. Longo made an errant throw and Jimmy Rollins ended up on 2nd. Then Price walked Victorino. That’s when the hitting started, and I wasn’t sure if it would ever stop. The Rays were staring at six runs before they even got up to bat! So painful. Especially since I don’t like to be reminded that David Price is human.
Could it get any worse. By golly George it could. The fourth inning started off with another error. (you can decide who it belongs to) Deja vu. Four more runs for the Phils. Agony.
Oh and just for good measure the home team only drove in one run. Thanks to Barty.
I’ve got a way for the Rays to make it up to us. They just made us sit through a stinker. Well most of a stinker, I started watching the CWS after a while. Anyway I think they owe us a super fun viewing experience. There should be good pitching. Preferably making all-star hitters look silly. There should also be many Rays hitting, stealing bases and making fine defensive plays. If they’d like to really make it up to us they would provide some entertainment from the dugout too. You know like dancing, thumb wrestling, or anything else that strikes them. Well not foul balls, we don’t want those striking them.
In closing I would like you to ponder one thing. I have been watching a lot of That 70′s Show reruns, and I’ve gotta say I bet Matt Garza could do a mean Fez. Just sayin. Go Rays!

And to make matters worse, management is ripping the fans:
“No, the mood lighting was not very good tonight,” Rays manager Joe Maddon cracked. “It was kind of awkward because you’d like to think you get beyond that point where the crowd tips to the other side. But it definitely did tonight.
“We still have our loyalists that do come out and support us and they’re very good, but it’s kind of awkward when you get to this position and all of a sudden the majority of the crowd is for the other side.”
I heard that the team president say he was disappointed and saw this series as a highlight of the year, thinking there would be sell-out crowds for the 3 games. But just like the World Series, plenty of Phillies fans made the trip to Florida, or live there, since the Phils train in Clearwater. I don’t know how he expected big crowds for a regular season game when there were Series tickets available a day prior to the game.
Either way, that dome has got to go. Playing games where balls hit speakers and turn into outs is ridiculous.
Yep. Last night’s game was a prime game, meaning the tickets cost more. I guess the fans decided that a Tuesday against the Phils wasn’t worth the extra coin.
I agree, I would love to have a new stadium.
Well then, the owner has no one to blame but himself. Making an inter-league game a “prime game” is strange. I wonder if it would have been a regularly-priced game if the Phils and Rays had each finished fourth?
The Orioles have “prime games” too, but they’re mostly Yankees, Red Sox and other big-time AL opponents. The Phillies charge more between Memorial Day and Labor Day than during spring and fall – figuring that they’ll put the screws to mom and dad taking the kids for a summer night of baseball. They sell-out just about every home game, so “prime games” are every day!
Is Garza still spitting? I think he’s pitching against the Phils.
