What a perfect Sunday game. I dozed off a couple of times but didn’t miss anything big. Final score Orioles 2 – Rays 6!!
Niemann is the man! He had me a little scared in the first inning, but he worked through the jitters quite nicely. Not a bad outing for his debut!
Neither team could get anything going offensively until the bottom of the 5th when the bottom of the Rays order got it started, and BJ Upton finished it off with a 3 run shot! (Earlier in the game when he was getting some good swings but the were going foul I said “He’s going to hit one out today.” Good call, yeah me)
Niemann sat on the bench a little too long while the Rays were scoring 6 runs. He gave up a home run. No harm done and he finishes six innings.
Howell relieves him and promptly loads the bases. Oy.
Wheeler comes in and walks in a run but gets two outs. Miller gets another big out against Huff with the bases loaded. Percival closes it out. (Like he should have had the chance to do yesterday.)
So… the Rays win their first series, against the division leading O’s no less. So weird. Let’s hope those Yankees have a post Boston let down. Go Rays!!
